Timucuan Ranch is a premier equestrian facility dedicated to furthering the King P-234 line, offering lessons, camps and much more.
Lessons
At Timucuan Farm, we believe in building a relationship of mutual trust and respect between the horse and rider. The foundation of all our programs is to educate people how to communicate with horses – both on the ground and under saddle – so that they can become better horsemen. Whether you are just learning to ride or you are an experienced competitor, our horses and instructors have the knowledge and experience to make your training a success. Our horses are trained for many riding disciplines, including Western Pleasure, Reining, Competitive Western Trail, Barrel Racing, Hunter Under Saddle, and Hunter-Jumper. Our lesson programs cater to all levels of riding, from beginners to experienced riders. A complimentary, 30-minute trial lesson is available to new clients who wish to try our lesson program before committing to a full lesson or package. All riders must be at least 5 years old.
-
Starter Lessons
During the 1-hour starter lessons, our trainers will provide personal instruction to young children (5-7 years old). These lessons will be structured similarly to the Beginner Lessons, but on a shorter time frame to ensure the riders stay focused and interested. Starter lessons have an average riding time of 30 minutes per lesson.
-
Beginner Lessons
During the 2-hour beginner lessons, our trainers provide one-on-one instruction, emphasizing the basics to ensure the rider develops strong fundamental riding skills. Students will learn how to properly groom, tack up, warm up, and cool down the horses, and will have an average riding time of 1 hour per lesson. Riders will learn how to navigate and control a horse through all gaits, maintaining correct body position suitable to the discipline.
-
Advanced Rider Lessons
During the 1-hour advanced lessons, our trainers will focus on refining the rider’s skills to prepare them for competition. Riders in this program will be responsible for grooming, tacking up, and warming up their horse before their scheduled lesson time, and for cooling down their horse once their lesson is over. Advanced riders may also arrange to haul in their personal horses for lessons with our trainers.

Training
At Timucuan Farm, we believe in building a relationship of mutual trust and respect between the horse and rider. Whether you’re struggling with an unwanted behavior or simply trying to elevate your horse’s athletic ability, our training program is for you! Our trainers are very knowledgeable of natural horsemanship methods, and are experienced with many types of problem behaviors, as well as their solutions. Although many of these behaviors arise when the horse is under saddle, we believe that these vices can be fixed from the ground. Our trainers focus on your horse’s behavior in the round-pen, and teach your horse how to respect body language, cues, and respond to pressure. Once these goals are achieved, our training program can be used to further advance your horse’s athletic ability, both on the ground and under saddle. We encourage owners to be present during their horse’s training sessions so that they may learn and understand our methods, although the owner’s presence is not mandatory.

Trail Rides
Timucuan Farm is located next to a 200-acre conservation area filled with both wooded and open trails. Our horses are well accustomed to this area and are always accompanied by a guide, ensuring a safe, enjoyable ride. Our trail ride packages offer a variety of riding options to suit every equestrian lover. First-time clients will receive a complimentary 30-minute riding lesson prior to the trail ride, in which they will learn basic cues and precautionary measures.
Camps
Our camps are designed for individuals with varying levels of horse experience – from beginners to advanced competitors. Campers will learn the basics of horse care, including how to feed, groom, and tack horses, how to maintain an equestrian facility, and the basics of veterinarian and farrier care. They will receive daily riding lessons, where they will be grouped with campers of similar riding ability. Campers will also participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities, including games, crafts, and more.
Camps will run Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. Campers are responsible for their own lunches due to allergy concerns, and must be at least 8 years old. Siblings receive a 10% discount off the weekly camp cost.
Volunteering
Timucuan Farm is proud to support the Winter Garden community by providing volunteering opportunities to local middle and high school students. Horse Transportation
We offer transportation services for horses in Florida. Our trips are expedited, as we don’t wait for the trailer to be full before making a trip. When traveling with us, your horse doesn’t have to worry about transferring from a van to a trailer, and we don’t use relay facilities – all trips begin and end in the same trailer. During the trip, stops are made every 5 hours to re-fuel the truck and to perform a visual inspection of the horses on board. Please call us to get a quote or for more information.
Boarding
Limited pasture boarding is available, with priority given to horses in training. Our pastures are equipped with automatic waterers, which are cleaned and inspected regularly. Boarding fees include twice-daily feeding, although the feed is not provided. Please contact us for availability, questions, or to set up a tour.
